Meet The Doctors

The Doctors are in

Dr. Paul Ladner
& Dr. Erin Jain

As orthodontists, Drs. Ladner and Jain completed advanced schooling beyond dental school to specialize in providing quality orthodontic care to children and adults.

Dr. Paul Ladner

Dr. Ladner was born & raised in Chicago as the seventh of eight children. He always planned on leaving the big city as his dream growing up was to work outdoors as a forest ranger or farmer and have a family of his own.

His uncle, who was also his dentist, was his inspiration! Through hard work and studying, Dr. Ladner rose to the very top of his class in dental school where a classmate gave him the idea of becoming an orthodontist. Although Dr. Ladner was engaged to be married the summer before his last year of dental school and anticipated moving past his academic life and starting a family, that same classmate got him a job as an assistant in a Chicago orthodontic office. It did not take long to realize being an orthodontist was the job for him. Wonderful people wanting to improve their dental health and looks. No blood, shots or dental anxiety to speak of. People loved the orthodontist & felt truly better about themselves as they realized their new smile.

Admission to orthodontic programs were highly competitive then, as they continue to be today. His acceptance to the University of Illinois Orthodontic program was one of the best days of his life. He still got married, but delayed starting the family for another 2 years in order to earn a Master of Science in Orthodontics.

Never considering an urban practice, he set out to find a place in the country. His research led him to send a resume to the office of Drs. Maddrell and Borden in Galesburg, Illinois. Shortly after, Dr. Maddrell retired. Dr. Ladner and Dr. Borden worked as partners for many years as Prairie Valley Orthodontics until Dr. Borden retired and Dr. Ladner operated the practice as Ladner Orthodontics.

With his current partner practicing with him, he is now able to work less days and enjoy his hobbies of bow hunting, fishing, and wildlife conservation.

He feels incredibly fortunate to have four adult children, three grandchildren, and to be living the dreams he had as a young man.

Dr. Erin Jain

Dr. Jain grew up in the suburbs of Chicago as the oldest of five children. Fun fact – she’s one out of three siblings to have red hair (yes, it’s natural!). In high school, she was student council president, played lacrosse and worked as a lifeguard. She even had time in her schedule to have a boyfriend… spoiler alert – she married her high school sweetheart! She continued her education receiving a bachelors degree from Quincy University, her dental doctorate from Southern Illinois University and her masters degree and orthodontic certificate from St. Louis University.

So how did she end up in western Illinois? Dr. Jain is Dr. Ladner’s niece! For years she dreamed of being an orthodontist and going into practice with Dr. Ladner. After years of hard work and dedication, she joined the practice in 2018 and now calls western Illinois home.

Dr. Jain and her husband, Jon, have 3 kids: Eleanor, Adeline (Addie) and Jameson. They attend church at Highpoint Church in Monmouth where Dr. Jain and her husband lead the junior high and high school student ministries. The Jain family loves to go camping, hosting people in their home and playing board games! Dr. Jain also enjoys gardening and making some delicious meals out of her homegrown vegetables!

As an orthodontist and a mom of three, Dr. Jain is living out her childhood dream. Of course, there is the added bonus of working along side her mentor, and uncle, Dr. Ladner. She is looking forward to the many years to come embracing the more ‘country living’ and raising a family in western Illinois.
